COMIC RELIEF: AHEAD OF THE GAME

Athlead was appointed by Comic Relief as the UK Learning Coordinator for its Ahead of the Game initiative, which aims to improve mental health outcomes in the UK through sport-based approaches and quality mental health support. Athlead built a learning community, facilitated exchange visits, and wrote the Ahead of the Game Learning Report and Ahead of the Game Toolkit. In May 2024, Athlead hosted the Ahead of the Game Conference, which brought together over 80 participants from the sport-for-good sector, including funders, researchers and delivery partners to share best practice and build momentum to continue the work beyond the programme.

GREATER LONDON AUTHORITY (GLA): GO! LONDON FUND

Athlead was appointed by the GLA to facilitate several GO! London Fund board days, enabling structured critical thinking on the fund’s strategy, outcomes and DEI commitment.

LAUREUS SPORT FOR GOOD FOUNDATION: PEACEFUL SOCIETIES MEL PROGRAMME

LEARNING COORDINATOR FOR LAUREUS PEACEFUL SOCIETIES MONITORING, EVALUATION, AND LEARNING (MEL) PROGRAMME:
 

Athlead was appointed as the Learning Coordinator for Laureus’s Peaceful Societies Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) programme. Through a comprehensive 1-year online learning community, Athlead helped funded partners across the world to develop robust systems to monitor progress, collect and analyse data, and engage stakeholders, including young people, in the evaluation process to capture the evidence of impact and tell powerful stories of change.

PAN-EUROPEAN FEASIBILITY STUDY:

In response to the European refugee crisis, Laureus Sport for Good commissioned a pan-European Feasibility Study to explore how sport could strengthen social inclusion for refugees and migrants, particularly addressing the complex gender dynamics faced by women and girls in these contexts. Athlead designed and delivered the study, conducting over 100 Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) across three languages, and collating findings into a comprehensive report offering pragmatic recommendations.

LONDON MARATHON FOUNDATION: HIGH-PERFORMANCE TEAM BUILDING

Athlead worked with the London Marathon Foundation executive leadership team to understand cultural strengths and opportunities for growth. Athlead designed and delivered a workshop for the wider team and produced recommendations on key themes that emerged, such as team dynamics, strategic clarity and impact, DEI, and accountability against core organisational values.
